Just How Capable Is the 2025 Jeep Wrangler?

That’s a great question, and the answer comes down to what kind of capability you’re talking about and the particular trim and configuration (along with some other features) that you’re looking at. When you go looking for a Jeep Wrangler for sale near San Antonio, it’s a good idea to have a sense of what kind of capabilities you’re looking for from your next SUV and then use that to guide your shopping experience. For example, someone interested in hauling a big camper behind their vehicle might have different needs from another driver who wants to challenge serious off-road trails like California’s Rubicon or the Black Bear Pass in Colorado. So today, we’re going to look at several different types of capabilities for the 2025 Jeep Wrangler to get a sense of what it can do and which models you should focus on.

The Rubicon model has 10.8 inches of ground clearance, letting you get over just about anything you encounter on the trail, along with 31.5 inches of water fording capabilities. If you go with a two-door model, then you get a 44-degree approach angle, a 27.8-degree breakover angle, and a 37-degree departure angle. A four-door Wrangler Rubicon has a 43.8-degree approach angle and the same departure angle, but its 22.6-degree breakover angle is certainly lower than the two-door model—the biggest overall difference. Going with a four-door model and 35-inch tires gives you slightly more clearance with 12.9 inches and a 47.4-degree approach angle, but offers a 26.7-degree breakover angle (again, this is lower than the two-door model by a significant amount). Overall, the Xtreme 35-inch Tire Package is clearly a significant boost to off-road capabilities, so keep that in mind.

Second: What About Towing Capabilities?

Although the Wrangler might be an off-road SUV first and foremost for some people, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s an incredibly capable vehicle that’s perfect for a wide range of tasks each day. Trucks might be the first option a lot of folks think about for towing, but the Wrangler offers some impressive towing capabilities. The standard powertrain for the 2025 Jeep Wrangler features a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine that provides 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. This allows for an excellent time on the road as you drive around San Antonio each day and up to 3,500 lbs of towing with a four-door model or 2,000 lbs of max towing with a two-door Wrangler. There’s also a 6.4L HEMI V8 engine exclusive to the Rubicon 392 model, which provides a remarkable 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. This beast is incredibly fun to drive, but it tops out at 3,500 lbs of towing because it’s engineered more for overall performance and off-road capabilities.

If you’re looking for the best towing capability from your Wrangler, then you want to go with the available 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine that delivers 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Not only is this engine beautifully tuned for an excellent driving experience each day, but it can handle up to 5,000 lbs of towing with a four-door model. A two-door Wrangler with this engine still tops out at 2,000 lbs of max towing, however, so keep that in mind as you’re exploring your options. It’s important to figure out how much weight you need your SUV to handle and then choose accordingly as you shop for a 2025 Wrangler.

Third: Don’t Overlook Cargo Capabilities

The weight that you want to tow isn’t the only thing to consider, however, because you also want to think about how much stuff you need to be able to load up and take with you.
